News from: FRAMINGHAM TAXPAYERS ASSOCIATION Contact: Steve Kruger (508) 788-1777 For immediate Release FTPA announces preliminary results of a survey conducted among March 30, 2004 town election candidates FRAMINGHAM, MA (3-15-04) The Framingham Taxpayers Association (FTPA), a non-partisan citizen group which advocates fiscal responsibility and cost effectiveness in town government, has announced preliminary results of a survey it conducted among candidates running for town election on March 30. The FTPA surveyed candidates for Selectman, School Committee member and Town Meeting member on topics ranging from the bargaining of town employee health insurance to Proposition 2 1/2 overrides. FTPA spokesman Steve Kruger commented: "Our aim is to help educate the voters of the town on where the candidates stand on a number of issues that are important to the taxpayers. We hope that this will allow the voters to make more informed choices on Election Day." The questionnaire was sent via postal mail to all candidates late last month. The questionnaire was accompanied by a postage paid, self-addressed return envelope. To date, two of three of the Selectmen candidates and one of three School Committee candidates have responded. Approximately 30% of the Town Meeting Member candidates have returned their survey. The FTPA expects a continuing inflow of responses as the March 30th election date nears. As we receive additional responses we will add them to our website. The entire questionnaire, as well as the preliminary responses from the candidates, is available on the FTPA website, www.framinghamtpa.org. The FTPA encourages voters to visit its website to review the candidates’ position prior to the March 30 election. ###
